number given above. In 2000, feasibility study will be updated and if viable the main project will be initiated. The objectives of purchasing this multi-purpose research vessel are to undertake mission-oriented, multi-disciplinary oceanographic research on physical, chemical, biological, geological, geophysical and fisheries subjects at international and national waters. Concerning the aims and objectives mentioned above, this project has three components; the first is the construction of the multipurpose research vessel and all the necessary navigation and scientific machines and equipment on board on turnkey basis, the second is the training of the crew and the third is the training of the scientists on job-related machines, equipment and subjects.
